Wallpaper tree at Lobke's nursery

Today we also received this great picture of Lobke & Carlo's nursery. (Wallpaper tree #2 september 066). Most people go for the multi-colored crowns, but here is a great example that subtlety goes a long way as well.

Tips for ecological nurseries at Immoweb

Belgium's leading real-estate website Immoweb features an article on ecological nurseries. We are very happy that they picked Inke's designs for this!

Allthough Inke never intended the wallpaper silhouettes to be a 'green' product, we try to keep our ecological footprint as small as possible. We find this important in our daily life and so this reflects naturally on the way we work here at the workshop.

For instance: All silhouettes are hand made locally. The silhouettes come with a pack of ecological wallpaper paste and a brush made from natural materials. Furthermore we use recycled paper and compostable plastics for packaging material.

My wall is higher than 2.60M. Can I still fit a Wallpaper tree?

Yes you can. The little "hill" is made out of wallpaper 066. If your room is over 2.6 meter high and you need to place the tree a bit higher, this is a perfect way to do so (or you can request some additional wallpaper in the same pattern as the trunk so you can make the tree itself a bit longer).

Bopita

Last week we visited Bopita's yearly trade show - very well organized, and a very clean and fresh collection. We had the honor to supply some wall decals for the rooms, plus there were some Bopita beds made with the Inke/Taftan linen.

All in all we had a great morning plus it was nice to see some familiar faces in the process!

I want to know if the adhesive that comes with the silhouettes is safe for my nursery.

Yes, the adhesive is perfectly safe. We chose to use an ecological product that is not harmful in any way. It is made from high grade methylcellulose (which is a "natural" chemical derived from wood) without any additives or solvents.

The manufacturer Auro from Germany is renowned for their ecological paints and adhesives. If you are planning to make your nursery as eco-friendly as possible, be sure to check out their products.

Still problems with the site

[UPDATE] it looks like the problem arises with older versions of Internet Explorer/Windows so those of you with up-to-date browsers and operating systems, should experience no problems at all.

It's getting kind of boring, but we have had some complaints that inke.nl is not working properly.

We hope to have found the problem and that it will be resolved next week. Most visitors will not notice that there is anything wrong, but should you encounter problems opening a page, please contact us via email (post at inke dot nl ) so we can help you out.

People often ask...

Can the silhouettes be applied over existing wallpaper?

Yes - provided that the original wallpaper is paper based (no vinyl) and glued evenly to the wall, without bubbles or loose bits.

If your wall is covered with fiberglass wallpaper (glasvlies/glasweefsel/Glasfaser Tapeten) you can also apply Inke's designs over it, but be aware that the embossing of the fiberglass will show through the silhouette (better not use the 074 (silver) or 075 (gold) wallpaper).

What a nice surprise by Rice (not)

What to think of this? We always admired Rice from Denmark for their quirky designs and business philosophy but when we saw their 2010 catalogue...

(Granted: They have eye for detail - watch the clothes line)

We know that there are a lot of people out there who think it's completely normal to rip off our designs, but it is a bit surprising when a respected designer brand like Rice comes with this.
